DON’T PUSH THE PANIC BUTTON!

IT’S OUR MONTH OF WALKING IN THE LIGHT!

DON’T PUSH THE PANIC BUTTON! – PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19).

As a Christian, rather than panic or be overwhelmed with fear when you face dire circumstances or opposition, use your authority in Christ. This reminds me of something that happened several years ago in Switzerland. I was standing at the road junction in Geneva preparing to cross the road to the other side. Someone had flipped the switch for the light to stop the vehicles, so pedestrians could cross.

For some reason, I wasn’t so attentive, so when everyone else had already gone to the other side was when I began to cross. By then, the lights had changed for the vehicles to come through. And there they were racing towards me and I was right in the middle of the road. The speed at which they were coming was high, and everybody watching from the sidewalk held their breath. Well, I stood right there and said, “STOP!!!” Of course, I didn’t do that as a traffic warden. I had to use a higher authority; my authority in Christ.

Guess what happened: the vehicles screeched to a halt, with the one ahead of them stopping right in front of me, mere centimeters away from where I stood. You could hear as everyone heaved a big sigh of relief, and then I calmly walked away. Imagine if I had pushed the panic button and responded in fear. Some of us don’t know this yet but we’ve got something that can stop engines. And guess what! That same thing can start engines too! I remember the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa. The story is told how he was in an airplane with several others and the pilot announced that they had lost one engine and the other one was having trouble and could fail anytime soon.

While the other passengers panicked and envisaged a crash, the Archbishop got up and spoke in other tongues, and when he was through he said to the plane, “Move!” The engine perfected its work and the plane became stable until it landed perfectly. The cockpit crew couldn’t explain how everything returned to normal from that chaotic state, but went to the Archbishop and thanked him for saving their lives.

We’ve got something we can use. We have authority in the Name of Jesus. You can use that Name against any sickness; you can use it to improve your job, your finances, your marriage, and your family – everything about your life! Praise God.
