LIVING IN THE NAME OF JESUS ~ PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME.
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring (Acts 17:28).
The Bible says, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him” (Colossians 3:17). That’s the way to live a supernatural life. True Christianity is functioning in the Name of Jesus. That means you’re living for Him in His authority. How could you be defeated if you live for Him? That’ll be impossible; and so will failure and poverty.
Some people believe rightly the Name of Jesus is powerful and has all authority, but they don’t know how to function in that Name on a day-to-day basis. The Lord Jesus taught us how in John 14:12-13, where He said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” Here, the Lord was teaching us to make demands in His Name.
Peter understood this, and he commanded a man who had never walked from birth to rise up and walk in the Name of Jesus (Acts 3:1-6). The Bible says, “And he (the lame man) leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God” (Acts 3:8). We’re called to live in the Name of Jesus, the creator of the universe. That’s big, and nothing can compare with it. If you function in His Name, and discover there’s a tumour in your body, say, “Tumour, in the Name of Jesus, you can’t stay in this body, I command you to go!” and it’ll go.
If there’s a problem with your heart, say, “Heart, I command you to function normally in the Name of Jesus!” If your child isn’t growing right, lay your hands on him or her, and say, “Child, grow right in the Name of Jesus, and be excellent!” If you had trouble at work, lift your hands in the presence of the Lord and say, “I command the storms in my office to calm down in the Name of Jesus!” And it will be so. Make your life beautiful, and live triumphantly every day, by living in the Name of Jesus.
